CARLTON

CARLTON

Trevor Carlton was born in Olympia, Washington, in 1972, and from a young age developed a strong connection with the American imagery of weathered wood, signs, and pop icons. After high school, he moved to Los Angeles, where he studied at the Lee Strasberg Acting Workshop: an environment that allowed him to explore set design, materials, and textures that would become central to his work.

His language combines painting and pop culture through surfaces that resemble found objects. Carlton constructs aged-looking panels and superimposes iconic figures on them, transforming nostalgia into a pictorial gesture. His collaboration with Disney Fine Art consolidated his style: famous characters are brought back to life through scratches, glazes, and a precise materiality.

Alongside his studio production, Carlton also expresses himself through live performances, where painting becomes rhythm and stage presence. Today, he continues to work between the United States, the United Kingdom, and Japan, pursuing research that brings together visual memory and contemporaneity.
