In Omaggio a Burri N.4, Angelo Accardi engages directly with Alberto Burri’s artistic language, reinterpreting his materials and visual tension in a contemporary way. The surface of the artwork is covered with a layer of bubble wrap, used as a tactile filter that distorts the image underneath and creates a sense of fragmentation and distance.
Through this transparent grid, bright colors emerge :yellows, reds, blacks and along with figurative elements typical of Accardi’s imagery: recognizable yet deliberately “interrupted,” as if seen through a barrier that alters their identity. The plastic layer recalls Burri’s focus on gesture, transformation, and the surface as a skin to be reshaped.
The result is a conceptual piece: a respectful homage, but also a contemporary reinterpretation of material art, where protection, fragility, and distortion become essential narrative elements.
